In late february, a few men and children gathered in a parking lot, curious to meet a rare, foreign visitor. They said that at times the sound of gunshot and shelling could be heard coming from the villages across the border, in Syria. Only a couple weeks later, Assad's troops began a deadly assault on Idlib, the main city of the region facing the southern end of Turkey. 在叙利亚难民潮日渐扩大的背景下，土耳其政府总理埃尔多安今天（3月16日）表示，应考虑沿土叙边界设置缓冲保护区。埃尔多安同时表示，一旦在叙境内的土耳其公民离开，土耳其将关闭驻叙利亚大使馆。土耳其外交部此前呼吁所有在叙土耳其公民立即离境。目前在土耳其国内登记的叙利亚难民已超过1.4万。昨天，海湾国家合作委员会宣布，出于对大马士革当局血腥镇压本国反对派的抗议，该组织所有6个成员国都关闭了驻叙利亚大使馆。
