北约，是欧洲及北美洲国家为实现防卫合作而建立的国际组织。最初目的是为与以前苏联为首的东欧集团国成员相抗衡。及至苏联解体、华沙条约组织宣告解散，北约就成为一个地区性防卫协作组织。

Task Force (ISAF) der Bundeswehr beginnt im Oktober 2011 die mehrtaegige Operation Orpheus. Durch Patrouillen in und um die Kleinstadt Nawabad (Dirstrikt Chahar Dareh) westlich von Kundus, Nordafghanistan, versuchen die rund 100 Infanteristen Rueckzugsorte Aufstaendischer unmoeglich zu machen. Unterstuetzt werden sie dabei durch einen Zug afghanischer Soldaten.

Neun bewaffnete Taliban und Selbstmordattentäter haben ein Gerichtsgebäude in der westlichen Provinz Farah gestürmt und mindestens 47 Menschen getötet und 100 weitere verletzt. Die Aufständischen wollten gefangen genommene Taliban befreien. Die Bilder zeigen den Tag nach dem Angriff: Soldaten sichern das Gebäude, während der Alltag für die Bewohner von Farah wieder weitergeht. Viele Menschen sind tot oder liegen im Krankenhaus.
