據德新社報導，中國第十一屆人大、政協第五次會議召開在即，"六四"遇難者家屬和支持者組織"天安門母親"周三（2月29日）發出公開信，再度敦促中國政府調查並重新評價導致數百人死亡的"六四"大屠殺事件。"天安門母親"在授權總部位於美國的人權組織"中國人權"首發的這封公開信中強調，22年前的那場大屠殺，是中國百年來和平時期發生的最殘忍的暴行，給國家和民族造成了嚴重傷害。這封有122人簽署的公開信指出，"推翻強加於八九天安門運動的一切不實之詞，還這場偉大民主運動以本來面目，是國人不可推卸的責任，也是今天的國家和政府領導人要向國人償還的一筆血債"。政協十一屆五次會議3月3日在北京召開，十一屆全國人大五次會議3月5日在北京召開。
