Over 70 years ago, a brave doctor in Italy made up a highly contagious disease to protect Jews from Nazi troops. Nazi Germany invaded Italy in September 1943, and just a month later began rounding up Rome's Jewish population. Gabriele Sonnino's family had already gone into hiding - but still, they were far from safe.
