Why fear of Russia is growing in Georgia

In Georgia, fear of Russia is growing. Many Georgians are scared that, if Ukraine falls, their country could be Putin’s next target. Until now they have been protected by the US. But their trust has been shaken.

South Ossetia lies between Russia andGeorgia — a region Russian tanks rolled through in 2008 during what is widely known as the five-day war. But for many Georgians, the repercussions of that conflict have never truly ended. It is no surprise, then, that locals, like Lia Chlachidze,  are scared it could happen again if Ukraine were to fall to Russia or after a potential peace accord between Ukraineand Russia.
