Gaza is now facing a confirmed famine, according to a UN-backed report. More than 500,000 people are suffering from catastrophic hunger, with children severely malnourished and death rates rising.

UN officials have blamed Israeli border restrictions for blocking aid, calling it a human-caused disaster. Israel has claimed the report is biased, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejecting the claims of famine as an "outright lie."
