Two children were killed and 15 were injured on Sunday when a "monster truck" careened out of control and into a crowd of spectators during a public show, Dutch media reported.

The accident occurred in the town of Haaksbergen, in the eastern Netherlands.

Spectators posted video of the souped-up truck, with wheels the size of tractor tires, driving over a row of parked vehicles before losing control and plowing into the audience.

Hans Gerritsen, the Mayor of Haaksbergen told local media two children died at the accident scene and at least 15 people were injured, five of them seriously.

Geerlod Kanis, who helped organize the show, told local media that it was possible the truck's gas pedal got stuck or that the brakes had failed.
