Tens of thousands of Israelis have protested in Tel Aviv against Israel's new plan to occupy Gaza City, fearing it will escalate the war and endanger hostages. Critics, including relatives of the 50 remaining Israeli hostages, are urging the government to pursue a peace deal instead.

International pressure is growing on the Israeli government to prevent famine in Gaza, where over 2 million people are at risk after 22 months of conflict.
