E-mobility is changing everyday life in Tanzania - from quiet electric safari vehicles in the Serengeti to modern high-speed trains between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. Safari guide Thomas Jamal delights in the peace and quiet with which tourists can now approach the animals. Lodge and fleet owner Denis Leboutex saves up to 800,000 dollars a year thanks to his 20 electric vehicles. The new electric train line also brings progress: it’s faster, quieter, climate-friendly. Delivery services such as Piki rely on e-scooters – enjoying the fact they are cheaper, safer and better for the environment.
The government is planning a car-free center in Dar es Salaam and is promoting the expansion of infrastructure. Tanzania proves that e-mobility is possible- and provides a role model for the whole of Africa.
