Security forces have been deployed in Syrian coastal towns after days of clashes between Syrian security forces and gunmen loyal to former President Bashar Assad.
The violence broke out on Thursday when armed men loyal to the former president reportedly ambushed government security forces in Latakia Province.
The intense fighting has killed more than a thousand people.
Here in Idlib, hundreds of people attended funerals of government fighters killed in the clashes.
Mostafa al-Shoghari, brother of killed security member: "If it was not for the pure blood of these martyrs, we would not have reached this point. Assad loyalists would have committed the most horrific acts. But we swear before God that we will make them taste what we endured."
The clashes have people worried in a country that recently toppled long-time dictator Bashar Assad's government.
Nazem Naji, Damascus resident: "We should join together and save this country and this victory that happened. We reached something big. We should maintain it and love each other. This country is for everyone."
Meanwhile, Syria's interim leader is urging national unity, as the country sees some of the worst violence in years.
