Suspected "Carlos the Jackal" Accomplice Acquitted

Terrorist Johannes Weinrich was acquitted by a German court on Monday of accusations that he taok part in a series of bombing attacks in France during the 1980s that killed six people. The court said there was not enough evidence to convict Weinrich. The 57-year-old, who is considered to have been Venezuelan terrorist "Carlos the Jackal's" right-hand man, is already serving a life sentence for bombing a French cultural center in Berlin in 1983. Carlos the Jackal, whose real name is Illich Ramirez Sanchez, is serving a life term in France for a string of deadly attacks in Europe in the 1970s and 80s.
