Paris' iconic Centre Pompidou, which welcomed 3.2 million visitors last year, will close on September 22 for a five-year renovation. Opened in 1977 and named after former President Georges Pompidou, the museum requires major repairs and asbestos removal, costing €262 million.
Before closing, it's hosting a final exhibition by German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. Visitors are enjoying the quieter atmosphere, making it a hidden gem amid the busy tourist season.
The grand reopening is planned for 2030.
