Verified footage shows Russian ground troops breaking through front lines in eastern Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has assured the public that steps to remedy the situation were underway, but many residents are fleeing the intensifying Russian attacks.

While military analysts have been reluctant to describe the Russian advance as a "breakthrough," they have pointed out that the timing of the offensive may not be a coincidence, coming just ahead of key talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
