Refugee status of Ukrainians in US in limbo under Trump

The United States welcomed over 180,000 Ukrainians fleeing war under a program started by the previous Joe Biden administration. With Donald Trump back in office, the program has been suspended, and Ukrainians are quietly being pressured to leave.

After fleeing war-torn Ukraine, Olha rebuilt her life in the US under a humanitarian parole program. But with the Trump administration pausing renewals, she lost her job and housing when her work permit expired. Thousands of Ukrainians now face "forced self-deportation," caught in legal limbo. Advocates urge reforms, while Olha vows to stay and fight for her right to remain until peace returns to Ukraine.
