Do immortal poems need new renditions and new modes of performance? Prizewinning pianist Jens Thomas says yes! He performed Schubert's music to Goethe's poem «Heideröslein» as a rock ballad. He sings Goethe verses such as «God is the Orient! God is the Occident!» in a rap style, and «Wanderer's Night Song» like a pop song. And he does it so well that the Goethe Institute has sent him on tour.
