Qatar holds emergency summit as Israel defends Doha strike

The Emir of Qatar is urging Arab and Islamic leaders to take concrete steps to punish Israel for targeting Hamas in Doha last week, when an airstrike killed five members of the militant group. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a press conference with the US secretary of state that "terrorists should not be given a haven."

Arab and Muslim leaders condemned Israel's airstrike on Doha at an emergency summit, calling it a betrayal of Qatar's mediation efforts in Gaza. Qatar's emir denounced the attack as "cowardly." Israeli PM Netanyahu claimed full responsibility, citing Hamas' presence in the Gulf country. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed support for Israel, stressing the ongoing war and hostage crisis.
