Five lower ranking members of Hamas were killed in the strike the Israeli military carried out in the Qatari capital Doha targeting the Hamas leadership in exile there.

Qatar's Prime Minister warned of a "firm response" to what he called a violation of his country's sovereignty. The White House said the attack "does not advance Israel or America's goals."

In Israel, hostage families fear the attack may sabotage a potential peace and hostage deal.
