Poland shoots down Russian drones in its airspace

Poland says it shot down Russian drones that it says repeatedly violated its airspace during an attack on Ukraine. Polish and Dutch fighter jets stationed in Poland intercepted the drones. Warsaw has convened NATO allies to discuss the incursion.

In a major escalation, Russian drones entered Polish airspace during an attack on western Ukraine, prompting NATO air defenses to intercept them. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed no casualties, while NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte condemned the violation. German Patriot systems and Dutch F-35s were involved. Warsaw's Chopin Airport briefly closed, and concerns grow over Russia testing NATO's eastern flank.
