Plenty of social media networks are great at helping people stay in touch and share personal information, and people love to use them. But Germany-based Xing.com aims at helping people get work done.

Social media networks like Facebook and Twitter give users convenient ways to share personal notes with friends and acquaintances, exchange information and get back in touch with long-lost friends.

Different platforms have different goals, Goldberg said

The sites are so easy to use and engaging that they're often hubs of procrastination with people often spending more time posting updates and taking quizzes than they originally intended.

But Xing.com tries to be different, according to Chief Product Designer Jason Goldberg. He said the Hamburg-based platform wants to help people get work done.
