Planet Berlin: How chips become golden
The Ukrainian Vladislav Gachyn turned his back on his professional chef career and instead opened an innovative chip shop in Kreuzberg.
Fries fan
"Don't fry your life, fry your dream." This is the Goldies slogan and the inspiration for owner and founder, Vladislav Gachyn. After years working as a gourmet chef, he opted for a down-to-earth menu with a truly golden touch.
Chips deluxe
Are these ... truffles? Yes indeed. There are no culinary taboos at Goldies. The favorite fast food is combined with diverse and sometimes exotic ingredients such as braised aubergine, roast beef and beetroot. Or in the dessert variant, with vanilla ice cream, banana and chocolate syrup.
Deep fried interior
The interior is also inspired by the fried potato: Chips hanging from the ceiling, the floor a chip-yellow color. But what's up with the palm tree?
The perfect snack
Goldies has a prime location: On Oranienstraße in Kreuzberg, Berliners and tourists wander among the shops and cafes during the day, and at night visit the many bars and clubs. Some fortifying french fries go down well here at any time of the day.
