A bill approved in parliament last week grants the state sweeping powers over Turkey's internet, allowing authorities to close websites without seeking a court order. If approved, the bill would help silence outcry over a corruption scandal that has shaken Turkey's ruling party. The digital crack down may also spell disaster for online activists spreading news about anti-government protests.
