Land for work - China manages Tajikistan's farms

In Tajikistan, farmers are struggling with outdated machinery and depleted soil. But now they're getting help in the form of know-how and technology from neighboring China.

In the region of Javan, 60 kilometers from the capital Dushanbe, the Chinese have bought farmland from the regional authorities. The only condition is that the harvests must be sold in Tajikistan. Maize and cotton are the main crops.
