Kenya: Gen Z activists form ranks to pursue political change

Young Kenyans have spent over a year protesting fatal police abuse and deepening economic hardship. DW's Felix Maringa meets some Gen Z activists in Nairobi organizing the once-decentralized movement for lasting political change.

Joshua Okayo leads Kenya's Revolutionary Gen Z Movement, a youth-led group pushing for political reform and protester protection. With over 3,000 members, they provide aid to injured demonstrators and host weekly forums to discuss national issues. Despite internal tensions over leadership, the group believes structured organization is key to reducing protest violence and driving systemic change.
