The Western Ukrainian city of Lviv used to attract countless tourists especially due to its historical center, which is a legacy of Lviv’s past as part of the Austrian empire. Many Russians loved to visit: It was an affordable get-away for them. These days, however, most of them stay away; but now the locals hope the Russians return, at least as tourists.
