India & Pakistan Agree to Fight Terrorism Together

16/07/09July 16, 2009

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yusuf Raza Gilani met in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement summit on Thursday. They issued a joint statement pledging to take their dialogue process forward and to cooperate in tackling terrorism. But the Indian PM warned that the bilateral dialogue would not succeed unless Pakistan took action to combat terrorism seriously. Thursday’s meeting was the third high-level meeting between the two countries since last year's Mumbai attacks that derailed the peace process and put a strain on bilateral ties.
