How the tide turned for the Thames

A few decades ago, the sheer exuberance of London's River Thames had to be seen to be believed. Every day, dozens of ships made the journey upriver to the docks and wharves of London to discharge their cargoes before slipping back to sea. But the men and the river on which they worked have grown quiet, the machinery dismantled and the docks filled in. So what happened? Jean Di Marino has more.
