German student develops rapid test for date rape drug (2013)

Gamma hydroxybutyrate, sometimes referred to as liquid ecstasy, is a popular party drug in Germany. Time and again, the dangerous stimulant is mixed into young people's drinks unawares and they fall unconscious. Now Julia Huber, a student from Baden-Württemberg, has developed a rapid test to detect liquid ecstasy in beverages.
