Flying the German flag - costly voyages for shipping companies

Global trade is booming again - good news for the shipping companies. MADE IN GERMANY visits Hamburg-based "Norddeutsche Reederei", whose 49 container ships sail the world's high seas.

Recently many of the ships started flying the German flag again. For the shippers it's a symbol of pride, but also a cost factor. Because ships flying the black-red-gold banner have a wide range of tough regulations they have to follow.
