Failing harvest

Angelo van Schaik, Rome, ItalyDecember 11, 2014

The olive harvest in much of southern Europe this year has been disastrous. A combination of factors have played a role, including bacteria spread to olive groves by a particular fly. In Italy, due to a hot spring and a relatively cool and wet summer, the olive harvest is on average 37% lower than last year. Angelo van Schaik reports from Rome.
