Data released Tuesday by Eurostat, the EU statistics office, showed that inflation in the euro zone had gone up in December to 2.3 percent in comparison to 2.2 percent the previous month. In November, as oil prices eased and the euro strengthened against the dollar, inflation slowed to 2.2 percent, from the 2.4 percent in October. The 12-months rise in price remained in breach of the European Central Bank's definition of price stability.
