The documentary takes a look at the major problems Germany is facing. Europe's largest economy is suffering from high energy costs, bureaucracy, inflation and crumbling infrastructure. In addition, populist movements are weakening the democratic center. And the Federal Defense Forces are looking incapable thanks to years of cost cutting. With perspectives from France and Poland, as well as Germany itself, this film examines what motivates workers, migrants, entrepreneurs and young people along Germany's borders. What hopes and concerns do they have for a new government in Berlin? Experts analyze how Germany compares on an international scale. Journalists from Germany, Poland and France show how Germany is viewed in their respective countries and what their expectations are for Germany. This deep dive paints a surprising picture of why the nation's major problems have been left unresolved for years.
