China, North Korea Pledge to Boost Ties

China and North Korea have vowed to boost their ties as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Il on Monday.

Wen’s visit, which started on Sunday, comes as both countries mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Earlier a Chinese foreign ministry official quoted North Korean Prime Minister Kim Yong Il as saying Pyongyang was willing to hold talks on ending its nuclear weapons programme, raising hopes of reviving the stalled six-nation talks.
