Bonn: Professorship for DW Degree Program Manager
The Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has named Christoph Schmidt an honorary professor. Professor Schmidt is the academic director and administrative director at DW-AKADEMIE.
On behalf of Deutsche Welle, Professor Schmidt conceived the bilingual Master’s Degree in International Media Studies in cooperation with the University of Bonn and the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. He also serves as the degree program manager.
In September, 22 students from 13 countries embarked on the first master’s degree course at DW’s headquarters in Bonn. Applications from international universities to take part in the program underline the relevance of the new course in these ever-changing times on international media markets.
Prof. Schmidt has been an associate lecturer at the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and the University of Cologne for many years now. In addition to lecturing, he is also a member of numerous committees, including the Advisory Board of NGO master’s program at the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.
Christoph Schmidt was awarded the honorary professorship in recognition of his achievements for the college, the students, and the department of electronic technology, machinery and technology journalism. The main focus of his work is on the fields of media business, organization and business administration.
“I am delighted with the conferral of the title, which I consider a special honor and distinction. I look forward to the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experience to our students and to exchange views with them,” said Prof. Schmidt.
