“The Media Situation in Russia: Between State Control and Commercialization“ is the topic of the first Deutsche Welle Media Dialogue on 21 April 2010.

The main focus of this academic symposium of media specialists is on the economic and legal aspects of the situation facing the media in Russia and their effects on the Russian media market. In a combination of lectures and panel discussions, academics, journalists, politicians and business leaders will debate issues such as “Media Work: Freedom despite Dependence?“ and “Media Market: Unlimited Commercial Freedom?“.

The Deutsche Welle Media Dialogue is a DW-AKADEMIE symposium series in cooperation with the Cologne Media Law Research Department at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, the University of Bonn, and the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. It is aimed primarily at academics, politicians, specialists from all branches of the media, employees of non-governmental organizations and students.
