Bonn: Fireside Conversations
The international media market is changing at an ever-increasing pace, for example through Internet developments. What does this mean for the journalistic profession?
This was the topic of discussion between DW trainees and students of the Master’s Degree in International Media Studies, along with DW director of programming Christian Gramsch at DW-AKADEMIE’s first “Fireside Conversation” – a new series of events for young journalists at Germany’s overseas broadcaster.
In a presentation entitled “The Guardian under Pressure”, director of programming Christian Gramsch stressed that journalists must say good-bye to the notion that they are the only authority when it comes to information: “In a world in which everyone can communicate with anyone at any time, and publish their own material, quality journalism and diverse broadcasting are taking on a new importance“. He added that Deutsche Welle’s multi-platform strategy was a response to this challenge.
More ‘Fireside Conversations’ are in the pipeline.
