Alexandra von Nahmen is one of DW's most experienced international correspondents. She covered Russia and President Vladimir Putin for five years as DW's Moscow Bureau Chief. She reported from the most dangerous flash points in Europe and beyond, covering Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the NATO mission in Afghanistan and the war against the so-called "Islamic State" in Iraq.
She was DW's White House correspondent during the first presidency of Donald Trump, with a special focus on trans-Atlantic relations and security cooperation. For five years, she then covered the EU institutions and NATO in Brussels. Her focus remains on security and defense policy as well as counterterrorism.
