2008 Global Media Forum

Shirin Ebadi, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize from Iran, delivered a keynote speech on the first day of the conference. Also in Bonn were Delphine Djirabé, lawyer and human rights activist from Chad, Claudia Anthony from UN Radio in Sierra Leone, Antoine Schwarz, Managing Director of Radio France Internationale and Danforth W. Austin, Director of Voice of America. In addition, the Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office,

Georg Boomgaarden, German State Secretary from the Federal Foreign Office also spoke at the opening ceremony. Among the guests were Delphine Djirabé, lawyer and human rights activist from Chad, Claudia Anthony from UN Radio in Sierra Leone, Antoine Schwarz, Managing Director of Radio France Internationale and Danforth W. Austin, Director of Voice of America. In addition, the Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office, Günter Nooke, and Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Andreas Krautscheid, delivered a greeting to the conference guests.
The Foundation for International Dialogue of the Savings Bank in Bonn co-hosted the 2008 Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum. The conference was also supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, the State Government of North-Rhine Westphalia, DHL, the city of Bonn, VT Communications, Blatzheim Networks Telecom and picture alliance.
