In allen Ländern des europäischen Nordens kann man sich in der Natur frei bewegen. Man kann in den Seen schwimmen und angeln, in den Wäldern und Wiesen Beeren und Blumen pflücken sowie Pilze sammeln. Das nennt man „jedermanns Recht“. Es ist ein Gewohnheitsrecht, was im Gesetz verankert ist. Jeder Europäer kann sogar geschäftlichen Nutzen aus Finnlands Natur ziehen.

Dans tous les pays nordiques, on peut se promener dans la nature sans aucune restriction. On peut se baigner dans les lacs, pêcher à la mouche, cueillir des fleurs sauvages, des baies ou des champignons... Ça s’appelle le droit de tout un chacun, un droit coutumier inscrit dans les textes, et on s’y réfère surtout en Finlande, le paradis des airelles, des myrtilles, des cèpes et des chanterelles. Un paradis qui n’est pas réservé aux seuls Finlandais.

Throughout the Nordic countries, you can hike freely through the countryside without ever meeting a fence. Whether by foot, on skis, or on bicycle, regardless of who is the landowner, there are no restrictions to accessing the land. You can bathe in the lakes, fish or gather wild flowers, berries or mushrooms. It's called "the right to each one," a right that is written in the books in Finland, the paradise of bilberries, blueberries, and wild mushrooms. And it's a paradise that isn't reserved only for the Finnish.
